Can anyone recommend a good digital camera? I think I'd actually take pictures if I didn't have to fool around with actual film. I don't have a camera anyway so I might as well get one I'll actually use.

I'm looking for something that will store a lot of pictures and has a storage medium that can be easily plugged into a USB port. If it's cheap but not a total piece of crap, that's a bonus too.

Any suggestions?

As far as I'm aware, many serious writers - whether they write professionally or on the side - tend to do their work either in the morning or really late at night (Neal Stephenson, for instance, writes for a couple of hours every morning, and Neil Gaiman does a lot of his work after midnight). A lot of women who write romance novels are married and run a household, so what they do is get up before the rest of the family and devote an hour or two to writing. Not that I want to write romance novels, mind you. It's just a habit thing.

And it does matter to me, because while I'm trying to get a certain amount of writing done every day, I have trouble meeting my goals if I do it in the evening. I'm all worked up or tired out from doing stuff beforehand. I want to get in the habit of writing seriously.

Although I can be pretty productive in the wee hours, staying up that late is not an option for me because I have to work. The nature of my job requires alertness and actual thinking (it's not rocket science, but you need to figure out how to catch errors and how to fix things). Also, I like and respect my bosses, so I want to do good work for them, which means I need to get enough sleep. I suppose that means waking up early in the morning.

I wake up at 8 AM now, because my job is practically around the corner and I can easily get there by 9. I suppose I should try waking up at 7 and writing. I should experiment with that. Then I may actually be productive and less distracted.

Perhaps I should also get into the habit of writing things by hand. I like to write on a computer because I usually start producing things, then decide I need to do it a different way and have an easy time fixing it. But an actual paper and pen might help me focus. Although my handwriting is not great...

Well, I'll figure all of this out.
