I'm currently blocking squares for my grandmother's afghan, and now I really wish I'd done a solid, contiguous pattern instead. I don't know how I'm going to get these things to match up, and I can only block a few at a time. Well, at least the first batch turned out pretty well. They may not be quite uniform in size - some fudging will be involved when I sew them together - but at least they're nice and square and not all bunched up. Tomorrow, after I get more black yarn, I will start sewing them together. I have another project to do while I'm home for Passover, because Grandma will be there and I want the afghan to be a surprise. I hope I can finish it in time....

Speaking of my other project, I've just completed my first Jayne hat! It will make a good belated birthday present for [livejournal.com profile] shinyhappygoth. I'll be making another to keep in reserve for my brother Daniel's birthday at the end of the summer.

Thanks for the tip. But blocking them, at least, makes them actually square, instead of crumpled. That helps a lot. I'll just have to be careful and use safety pins when I'm actually sewing them.
