Something happened to the "S" key on my laptop keyboard so it came loose from its moorings and came off. After a lot of fiddling I've managed to get it sort of fixed again so that it is attached and registers every time I hit it, but it still feels kind of loose and I'm afraid it will come off again. I need to get it fixed somehow.

I have pressed duct tape into temporary service in a similar emergency.

One small duct tape donut to secure it to the underpinnings. Then a small strip of tape to anchor it to the keys on either side which will prevent side-to-side looseness.

My laptop did the EXACT same thing a few months ago. Is your computer a dell with a current warranty? If so call them and they will send you a new keyboard. They may even bring it to your apartment to install it in person.

Well, I'm going to see if our computer guy at work can fix it first. I've already gone through the Dell part replacement dance twice - I don't want to do it again, if I can avoid it.
