Action-packed weekend!!! (TM)

What the title says, because it has been.
First, the D&D game on Saturday went quite well. The corn casserole I baked for all comers actually didn't suck (although it was a bit dry). We managed to do a reasonable amount of stuff in this session (which is to say, as much as
ironroot planned for us to do).
Also, my subsequent conversation with
scifantasy regarding certain *ahem* difficulties a few months ago was not nearly as bad as I'd expected, and we have pretty much straightened things out. Neither of us are quick on the uptake in social situations, so I guess it's not surprising that it took us this long to figure out where we stood in relation to each other. I'm just glad that we've managed it.
(NOTE TO
arcessita: we have to figure out a time to visit Rosie's. Maybe late morning on some Saturday or other? I don't know what your schedule's like then. The place is at 20th and Locust, more or less, so we should figure that into our travel plans).
Today I went to the Rennaissance Faire with some friends from Bryn Mawr. We were only there for three hours because everyone else had to get back to campus in time to do something or other. I did not buy as much stuff or eat as much junk food as I'd thought I would. Which is fine, because it's not like I was setting a goal or anything.
The only event we saw was a comedy act/magic show "Witch Trial": otherwise, we spent most of our time looking around at the stalls. We saw lots of neat little scuptures and pieces of jewellery. One place was also selling a lot of swords and knives. Since it was the last weekend of the Faire, a lot of things were on sale. For instance, if you bought two large Lord of the Rings-themed swords, they would be discounted and you'd get a free Frodo sword (Sting). One of our party got little daggers. I enjoyed looking at the pointy shiny stuff, but didn't buy anything. It's odd, that I used to want to get a knife or sword or something when I couldn't have them, and now that I can, I don't want one. I guess I've learned to enjoy pretty things without wanting to have them.
I did, however, get other neat things.
1. A snood - I think they're also called a "caul." They're like hairnets, but they're nice, crocheted hairnets. And rather than keeping all your hair up on your head, they just sort of hold the part of your hair that would normally hang off your head. I need to get some pins to hold it in place, though.
2. An ear cuff - these little things hug the earlobe at about the middle of the ear. I found out that it pinches on my left ear but is fine on my right one.
3. A new headdress - my mom got me this dried-flower headdress along with my Ren Faire outfit when she bought it years ago. Now it's falling apart, and I actually left it at home. This time I got one with all cloth flowers, which will last longer and won't drop bits everywhere.
4. A bottle of honey mead - This was recommended to me by a friend who came to the Faire with us. The Faire is actually held near a winery (or on land owned by the winery, I'm not sure which), and said winery took advantage of the event by hosting a wine tasting, so I got to try some of the mead. It's really good stuff! I'm going to bring it to the next D&D game.
In other news, I am working on an eyelet scarf pattern that involves the ssk (slip-slip knit) stitch, something I've never done before. After several false starts I finally got the hang of it and the scarf is coming along nicely. Now I have to find someone to give it to. So, anyone want an aquamarine-and-navy wool scarf with lots of eyelets?
