Please watch this Flash movie. It's the only political ed visual aid I know of that uses Oreo cookies to explain the Federal budget.

And, if you feel like it, sign up with these folks. It's a good way to keep abreast of political and legal developments, if nothing else - although I hope you will see more value in it than that.

You know what would be really nice? If the government would stop stealing my cookies. See, I work, buy the cookies, eat 1 and the government takes the rest. If we voluntarily gave our cookies to our state governments, they could improve education, health, hunger and all other sorts of stuff in our individual states. That would make the Constitution smile! Then, we'd all get to have our cookies and eat them too.

Also, it's misleading to compare our government's with other government's military spending budgets without adjusting for population and exchange rates. It's a bit of a different story then. *nod*

But, yeah, I want my cookies back! Lol

Well, it's nice to think that would work, but I don't think most people would voluntarily give their cookies to the government. I mean, if most people don't bother to vote, do you think they'd cheerfully pay taxes if they didn't have to, even if they had control over where the money went?

Yes, actually, I do. We vote in our state when we raise taxes. That's a voluntary act. Most people don't mind paying taxes to support schools and roads and health and things like that as long as they are in our own state. The federal government just steals your money. They rob us blind because we allow it. We don't demand it back, so they'll keep taking more and more of it. Americans aren't stupid, we understand that schools are important and KY pays taxes to our state government for them and maybe if the fed-gov would stop taking the rest, our schools here would all be excellent. The US doesn't need to keep implimenting more and more socialist ecomonic policies, they need to start trusting us with our own money. And besides, do you really trust the federal government to do anything? Let alone manage the school system? I don't! They're a bungling, disorganized, wasteful behemoth, the thought of their grubby paws being near the minds of school kids is gross! At least to me! Lol
