Suzanne took Roo to the vet this morning (thank you, Suzanne!). I spent all day worrying about Roo, and then went to the vet to pick her up.

That's right - Roo's a girl. I made a mistake when I thought Roo was a boy. Roo's also about six weeks old, not a month, although Suzanne's estimation was pretty close.

She got a flea treatment, so she's clean now, and some medicine for her eye. She was quite the celebrity at the vet's office, which is not at all surprising. I heard she was mewling a lot though, which means she was scared. I hope when I take her back in a month (for shots) she will be old enough to handle it better. For now, it's good to know that she's healthy.

Since the vet lost the little box that Suzanne brought Roo in, they lent me a real carrier. The advantage of this is that, well, it's an actual carrier that I can take Roo around in, and I can put her in it at night so she can stay in my room. The disadvantage was that it kept me from taking her on the subway. One can get away with a kitten in a box, but a carrier is too obvious. I took a cab home. Roo is glad to be back, and accepted my invitation to come in my room with tentative disbelief. Now she is sleeping on my lap. She's had a long day.

I plan to go to Monster Pets tomorrow to get her a carrier bag, a litterbox, and maybe a collar. She has a particular corner she likes to widdle in, so I can put the box there for now and move it to the bathroom later, after she's used to using it.

Tomorrow I may have to stay overtime at work to finish up a project. Bleah.

If the little darling had fleas and was crawling around the house - you may have fleas now in the house. You might want to check that out.

We didn't let her into parts of the house where there are carpets, so I think we minimized the chance of that. But I'll be looking out for any unwelcome insectoid guests.

Actually, there is a good chance we have fleas everywhere. The carpets will need to be treated.

Also, when can you get Roo fixed? I refuse to live with a female cat that is not fixed. (Obvious reasons, I'm sure.)

I'm not sure when Roo will be old enough to get fixed. When I take her for her next vet appointment, I'll ask.
