Today at work we ordered Chinese food for lunch and I got a fortune cookie which said that there was a pleasant surprise in store for me. Maybe there's something to those cookies after all.
After work I went into a drugstore to get some things and right there, on the magazine rack, was a Serenity comic book! I'd heard that one was in the offing, but had not been keeping track of the status of that project.[1] I looked at the first couple of pages and thought I recognized the coloring style, so I looked on the cover again and saw that one of the artists listed on the front was Laura Martin - the award-winning colorist who worked on Ruse. (refer to post title above)
I didn't buy it because I don't want to spoil the movie for myself, and if I bought that book, I would probably read it and blow the whole thing. But I definitely plan to get it later.
That reminds me, I need to reserve tickets for the movie...
[1] I know. I fail at geek.

Date: 2005-09-08 09:35 pm (UTC)I'm actually thinking of buying two copies and putting one in a plastic sleeve to save as a collector's item. Then I can make up for failing at geek by not keeping track of the whole comic book thing in the first place.

Here is an interview with the writer, where it says the comic "occurs after the show but before the film." : http://www.comicbookresources.com/news/newsitem.cgi?id=5335
Really, I ought to go by the comic book store on my way home and see if they have it, myself.
