I did my first thesis interview yesterday. It took less time than I anticipated and my digital recorded got everything perfectly, which is good because I have to transcribe it. I learned a lot of useful stuff. I also called two other people to set up interviews. I'm proud of myself because I made it to the interview despite yesterday's snow, although I'm embarassed because I got on the R6 instead of the R5 (and not for the first time). Fortunately a fellow passenger offered to drive me back to campus while she was dropping her daughter off at karate class.
One bad thing about today - one of my classes may have to have a lottery to decide which students stay in, because the room is too small for us (it's a popular class and the room is tiny). If I can't take this class I'll have to scramble for another one because I'm down to the minimum number I can take already (which is what I planned, since I have enough credits to swing it). Worse, if I have to scramble, it means I'll have to catch up on whatever assignments they already did. And a lot of classes I would like to take conflict with other things I'm taking already. I've decided not to worry about it unless I get dropped out, and I think there's a good chance I won't, since I preregistered, I'm a senior and I brought up something that impressed the professor. I also spoke to her after class, so she knows my situation and my name. I think that will count for something.
Right now I'm transcribing last night's interview. Thank goodness I had that digital recorder instead of a tape recorder. It's much easier to run and pause the recording on my computer while I type the transcript than it would have been to use a tape, and the data is easier to handle.
Tonight is the first Doublestar meeting of the new semester, and tomorrow is the first Mage game. If a one-shot is planned for next Friday, which may happen, I might use that time to visit my brother instead, before things really heat up around here.
Back to work...
