Couple of Things
Jan. 15th, 2007 09:24 amI've been using a Mac all weekend, so now here I am at work, on a PC, and whenever I want to copy and paste text I keep looking for the "Open Apple" key before I remember that hey, there isn't one, I'm supposed to use Ctrl. Silly me.
Also, as some of you may have gathered, I did manage to fix the router at home. I had to put my computer on the same subnet as the router (rather than a subnet of the static IP address my ISP gave me). I also learned, with the help of
plus_c, how to turn my Mac into an FTP server and connect to it with Windows Explorer, for the purpose of getting certain files off my PC and into my Mac. Unfortunately, transferring files this way took a long time and there were a couple of problems, so I just put everything I would need on my external hard drive. I haven't connected that up to the Mac yet, but I don't think I can transfer directly that way, since the drive is NTFS and I don't think the Mac can read it. However, once I have made a Windows partition on the computer with a FAT32 disk format, I can put my stuff on that, and move some of it to the Mac side if I want.
One last thing: I'm trying to join an LJ roleplaying community (it's sort of a giant crossover, actually) in the persona of YT. Ironically, I can't use my own regular account, I have to create another one. But the real problem is that I need userpics expressing a number of different emotions. I can't find any character, animated or otherwise, who looks close to my idea of YT, so I created a series of icons using the Portrait Illustration Maker. However, I'd like to be, you know, not so cheap. If any of you can point me to screencaps of an actress or animated character who looks like a young Valley Girl, only not ditzy and vapid, please do let me know.
