Well, today has been okay I guess. There were good things and bad things. Bad things first:

Bad Things

--There was no D&D game today because two people weren't able to make it.
--I filed my federal taxes electronically and they were rejected, but I can't understand why because the explanation is in bureaucracy-speak. I will have to ask my dad for help. Good thing I filed them early so I could fix this.
--My iPod seems to have gone kaput. From the sound of it, the hard drive is busted, and nothing I've tried so far has worked. Yes, I've called tech support and expect them to reply shortly.

Good Things

--I haven't been making a big thing of it, but I've been dieting and exercising since I got back from Florida in January. As of today, I have gone from 196 pounds to 184 pounds, which is a little less than halfway towards my goal. Yay!
--I finally got Roo a new collar. Her old one was really tight and I couldn't undo it so I had to cut it off. This new one is orange and has little skulls-and-crossbones on it!
--Since I didn't get to go to the sushi dinner yesterday, I went to a nearby sushi restaurant for lunch. It was a bit expensive, but well worth it.
--I made my friend Marjorie a present, which I will send to her soon.

In other news, it's snowing. It's supposed to really pile up. Not such a great prospect when you don't have snow days anymore. :P

After exchanging several e-mails with tech support and trying all their suggestions without succes, HP[1] decided to replace my iPod. In a few days I will be getting a special box to send it back in so I can get a new one. I think this is like the time I replaced my laptop hard drive: I had to send the broken one back to get the new one without being charged. This means, I think, that the replacement iPod will be free. That's nice.

For customer support people, they were all very helpful, from the techs I e-mailed to the guy on the phone who put through my replacement order. After hearing some of Suzanne's tales of woe, I'm glad I didn't have to deal with Apple customer service.

Admittedly, I don't think I treated this thing too well. I've dropped it a few times and disconnected it when it was updating. But you'd think that these things would be more durable, considering that people are supposed to carry them around everywhere.

[1] No, not Apple - I have an HP model iPod, the tech support for which is not in Apple's purview, as I discovered when I tried calling Apple customer support earlier today.
