My hard drive went loopy again. I had to leave it hooked up to the computer at work overnight for a scan. Then it seemed to work okay, but I tried to run a virus scan on it (it was still attached to the computer at work) and the scan got stuck but wouldn't turn off. Now when I try to open up the laptop hard drive it crashes Explorer (not Internet Explorer, but the application that runs all the windows in Windows). I shall have to run chkdsk again.
At least I got my Ruse fanfic off it - though not my original short story, which was stupid. I hope I can get it working again. Then this weekend I'm going to get a new hard drive and see if I can copy all the contents of this one to that one. I know a good hole-in-the-wall computer hardware store where I can get a relatively cheap laptop hard drive with 80 or 100 gigs (my current hard drive has 40 gigs).
The good news is, I got a tax refund that will more than cover the cost of the aforementioned hard drive. I don't think I want to consider replacing the whole laptop just yet: everything else in it seems to work fine.
