This has been a rather stressful day. I knew I had to go to a job interview, so I dressed nicely and put on makeup (including mascara, which I hate, and will never put on again because it's not worth the trouble). I had to interview someone for my thesis first, which was actually very productive. I went straight from there to Market East where I caught a New Jersey Transit bus to Pennsauken. The driver was very helpful and told me when my stop was coming up.

Except it was the wrong stop - I got off a ways down the road from where I was supposed to be. That wasn't the driver's fault, by the way, it was mine. And, well, I'm used to making mistakes like that, so I got myself oriented, figured out the direction in which I had to walk, and started walking. It was cold and windy and there was no sidewalk and I was following a major expressway, so as you can imagine, it wasn't pleasant. I was also wearing uncomfortable shoes.

I finally found the place and filled out the form the secretary gave me, and then I went in for an interview. And here's the part that gets me. The guy asked me two questions, explained what the position was about, and then it was over - because it was just a preliminary interview. It took less than five minutes. He could have - should have - done it over the phone, for bleep's sake. I put on makeup and dress nicely and psych myself up for this, my first job interview, and go all the way out to New Jersey and for what? For a five minute preliminary interview.

They'll call back in two business days to tell me whether I get to go to the next stage or not. I'm not sure whether to hope I get it or that I don't. I have another interview on campus next week for a job I actually like better. We'll see what comes of that.
