We finally have the downstairs computer back, without the virus/spyware/whatever which, apparently, came in over an AIM download. I remember that [livejournal.com profile] scifantasy's sister had a similar and more serious problem when she tried to download Finding Nemo icons over AIM and ended up filling her mother's computer with pornographic pictures. I guess we got off easy.

I'm on the fifth season of Babylon 5, and finally saw Day of the Dead, the episode written by Neil Gaiman, with Penn and Teller guest starring. It was off-kilter and bizzare and the kind of thing that only people like Neil and JMS can get away with. I enjoyed it very much.

As for the Decatur House work, I've started sounding out various museums in order to figure out what objects or documents they have and whether or not we can borrow them for the exhibit. This of course involves lots of phone calling and leaving messages, both of which I detest. But I just have to work through it. I may end up visiting some of those museums soon - that is, the New York/New Jersey area museums with Edward Livingston stuff. Princeton has some of his papers, so I might be making a little business trip up there, and I'll be able to see [livejournal.com profile] scifantasy, which will make both of us very happy. Here on the home front I've started looking at microfilms of the Daily National Intelligencer at the Library of Congress. It took me a while to learn to use the microfilm readers and get used to the early-19th-century style of printing, which bears little resemblance to that of modern newspapers. I have, however, found some relevant articles and I hope to find more soon.

Daniel's high school graduation takes place tomorrow. It's been delayed a bit because of Ronald Reagan's death. The man was president for a good part of my childhood, but most of my impressions of him come from a book of Tom Toles political cartoons from his administration, so I rather dislike him and I can't understand all the fuss around here. That's a horrible thing for me to say, but that's how it is.

Today or tomorrow I'm going to go online and check Dell's website to see what kind of laptops they have. Both Bryn Mawr and the New York Times have deals with Dell, so I can get my laptop at a discount through one or the other. I want to get it before August, so I should see what models they have, figure out which one I like and pester Dad to buy it. I'd like to get my 21st birthday present before August. ;)

I should probably plan to have lunch with [livejournal.com profile] plus_c at some time, since he's doing a summer internship at NPR here in D.C., but I'm horrible at getting around to these things. I am depending upon all my devoted friends and readers (one in particular) to pester me into action.
