Ho-hum...

Again, I spent too much time today playing Kingdom Hearts, and I also ate too much. Bleah.

This afternoon Valerie came over and we watched my tape of the San Francisco Ballet Company's presentation of Cinderella, hosted by Kermit the Frog and Miss Piggy. It's been one of my favorites since I was little. Valerie liked it too. We also watched this 3-D Shrek short. The evening was less enjoyable, as I had to go with Benjamin to his school for a pizza party/raffle thing. It was loud and boring. Benji liked it, though, since he won a little painted aluminum statue at Bingo and a pass of some kind in the raffle.

I've decided, after reading about 150 pages of 1633, that I do not find the book very engaging. The first one, which I got from Rachel, wasn't that bad, and I got this one from Paige. The fact that it was given to me by good friends motivated me to give it a good chance, but really, it's making me roll my eyes at times. I've put it aside for the time being - might pick it up again, though - and I've started on the Sherlock Holmes collection I bought at the mall yesterday. Didn't mention that, did I? Anyway, even reading the introduction has given me some ideas for changes to my Ruse fanfic. Although now I am worried that I may find Simon's character to be too close for comfort to that of Holmes: some people I have spoken to online and the reviews I have read say that he's pretty much his own character, but I can't exactly judge, because I have not yet read any Sherlock Holmes stories that I remember.

Well, the moment of truth will come soon enough...

Well, Benjamin has gotten over our little spat, so I can play DDR and Kingdom Hearts again. Still have to get the laptop thing figured out.

I spent much of the morning playing Kingdom Hearts (I'm ashamed of myself). This afternoon I did something a bit more worthwhile. I went to my friend Valerie's house and watched Shrek with her and her college friend Julia (who is apparently channeling the spirit of Gustav Maler - don't ask). Julia also put purple dye in Valerie's hair, mixing it with the teal green that was already in. The effect is pretty cool.

Later we went to the Montgomery Mall, where we watched Shrek 2 while we ate too much candy. It was better than I expected, and I quite enjoyed myself. I got Julia to read the first 3 issues of Ruse. Another addi- I mean convert!

I got an idea for how to do something in my Ruse fanfic, which is complicated and not for discussion here. Only my friend Rachel would understand how it differs from my original idea anyway. Speaking of fanfics, I got two new reviews today - one for my Batman Beyond fic, which I really appreciated, and one for my first Samurai Jack fic. The guy who wrote the second one didn't use proper spelling or grammar and wasn't sure if my narrator was a woman or not. I never really mention that in the story, but I do say she's a 'she' in the summary and nobody else had a problem. There are some real dodos on FF.net - and they write the bulk of the stories, it seems.

That virus/spyware/whatever that got on the computer is still there. We've been running the anti-spyware stuff on every profile, and it's still not gone. We need an exorcist or something. AOL is also being icky. I hate my online connection at home.
