Scramble, scramble, scramble!

It's going to be a busy week. Today after work I have to clean the apartment because my mother is visiting tomorrow. I already got a start on that, but I really need to work on the bathroom and front room - and all this is made more difficult by the fact that my vacuum is a piece of crap. It works if I use the hose attachment but not in its standard "upright vacuum" mode. Well, I'll manage. The tile in the bathroom and hardwood in the front room are good broom territory.
I also have to finish buying and sending holiday gifts. I've already sent some stuff to my cousins and a few friends, but I haven't covered all my friends yet, and I need to get things for my brothers. The younger one, of course, knows what he wants, but I would have to order it online and it's not quite in my price range. I might get him something else.
And I'm making arrangements to visit Marjorie in NJ this weekend, which would necessitate my taking a Chinatown bus to NYC, the subway to Penn Station and another bus to her town, unless I can find a willing friend with a car (not likely) or join my grandpa for lunch in NYC and get him to drive me the rest of the way (somewhat more likely). Barring that, the transit time will be something like 4-5 hours.1
1But I'm willing to endure that long journey if it means I can get Marj hooked on Avatar: The Last Airbender. And help her cook pseudo-latkes.
