There was a house in New Orleans...

Actually, there isn't a house in New Orleans, which is part of the problem. Now that I've got the historical research done for Judah P. Benjamin, and we know we can get a copy of the speech he made in the Senate when South Carolina and later Louisiana seceeded from the Union, I need to find some artifacts associated with him. The problem is, his house in Louisiana (Bellechasse) no longer exists, and the furniture and luxury items he bought to furnish Decatur House were auctioned off when his wife went back to Paris. Most of those items were bought by the Yulee family of Florida, but their house burned down a few years later, so all that stuff is gone. I've been calling places in Louisiana, Virginia and Mississippi to see if they have artifacts associated with him. One place has his bed, which we can't use because it's too big. I asked if they had a picture. The other places aren't sure.
Other things are going more smoothly. I will go to Princeton on the 24th, and I know what train I can take back. Sarah got the Museum to reimburse me for the ticket home. Now I have to figure out if I can visit
scifantasy on the way down from New York. I admit I haven't planned this too well, but hopefully it will turn out all right.
I hope that my laptop will be delivered by the time I get back, or shortly afterward. I can hardly wait!
