Books, books, and yarn.

Although I knew it was going to rain today, I chose to walk all the way to knitting circle because I had some stuff to do. I picked up the two books I'd had put on hold at my local library branch (so I finally get to finish reaing Locked Rooms) and stopped at an optometrist's to get my glasses straightened, since Roo stepped on them and bent them out of shape and they weren't sitting right and it was driving me nuts.
By the time I got out of there it was raining really hard, but I trudged to Rosie's (my sneakers probably won't be dry by tomorrow) and picked up some yarn and a cabling hook to make an Irish hiking scarf. I'm using a nice pale grey-green shade of Encore yarn. Maybe I can make myself a short scarf this way, since the Dr. Who scarf my friend Liz made me can really be annoying sometimes.
I tried to order a used copy of The Encyclopedia of Knitting from Barnes & Noble, since I have a gift certificate, but apparently the book wasn't available. I think it might be cheaper in a store than online (because of shipping costs), so I might head to a B&N later to find it.
Oh, and the Bryn Mawr Young Alumnae chocolate party is on Friday! I can hardly wait...
