I've been worried about getting a summer internship - I need one to graduate and it was always hard in the past - but I recently got an offer from an IT industry and lobbying group. Much to my surprise, they are very eager to have me come and work for them. I'll even get paid, though I don't know how much yet. We just have to figure out exactly what I'm going to be working on. There are many projects and issues to choose from.
Of course, this will mean I have to update my wardrobe a bit (it's not a suit kind of job, although I will need a couple of suits if I go to meetings on the Hill or something). I'll also have to wear contact lenses and makeup more often. And I will have to learn to make nice with politicians, which is a scary idea but will give me some much-needed experience. Still, if there weren't something challenging and scary about the whole job, it wouldn't be worthwhile, would it?
