I am so glad I went to a women's college, because I wouldn't have been able to deal with adjusting to undergraduate life in a place like Michigan. I mean, it's a great place to go to grad school, but the undergrad culture, is, well...at times it borders on the barbaric.

For every Saturday that I've been here so far, I've passed the frat houses on State Street (the main drag into campus), where the residents are out on the lawn drinking cheap beer in plastic cups and playing loud music. They start drinking in the morning and continue until after dark. They also tend to act like assholes. This morning I was walking up State Street on my way to Yom Kippur services. I was (and still am, right now) also fasting, so you can imagine how not-thrilled I was when some inebriated frat boy started waving a bottle at me and asking if I wanted some beer. I was of course dressed for services, and here's this guy trying to ply me with beer like I'm a clueless, scantily-clad frosh girl.

Again, I'm glad that I went to a women's college with no frats or sororities, and that I now live a comfortable distance from campus.
