My first fingerless glove is a failure. The hand part is too short and, since I wove in the loose yarn, the opening for the fingers is too tight. There are too many gaps around the base of the thumb, which I tried to fix by sewing the loose end of the yarn I knit the thumb with. That just made it look messy, and I didn't deal well with that loose end of yarn either. I really need to learn to bind off better.
In short, the glove turned out looking like a product of a failed Fullmetal Alchemist human transmutation. I haven't thrown it away but I've put it in my bag of waste yarn, where, I suppose, it will develop into a better-formed but evil and soulless homunculus glove that will one day come back and kill me.
Bah. I guess that's why there aren't any patterns for making gloves in fingering-weight yarn. Or maybe I just suck. I am going to use the rest (there's a decent amount) to make a pair of socks. Maybe I will try gloves again later.
