The bad news - I went to Rodeph Shalom on Saturday to observe a Torah service, but because of the snow and the lack of a minyan, they didn't have one. At least I got to see Tot Shabbat, which was very cute.
I spent most of the time between Rodeph Shalom and the Mage game in the Intermezzo cafe, doing some work (but mostly playing on my computer) and wincing every time I looked out the window, on account of the weather.
Since PJ was taking his character out and mine was connected to him, I had to make up a new character. I based her on Juanita from Snow Crash. If I'd really been playing her to form, she would have Mind powers as well as the standard Virtual Adept spheres. But instead I was concerned with the needs of the group, so her best spheres are Spirit and Correspondence, making her a rare Spirit VA specialist - although she doesn't have Mind, which means she'll need to rely on someone else for it, nor does she have Forces. She has very good hacking skills, however, and a talisman with computer spirits, which came in handy when I had to outhack
ironroot's Technocracy spy character.
One problem with this game is that we all have too much out-of-game knowledge, and it gets us confused in-game about what we know and what we don't know. There's nothing we can do about that now, but we will have to be more careful about it in the future.
Anyway, I like my new character. She may not have Mind or Forces, but she seems to answer the needs of the group more than my old character did. She'll just have to rely on members of the team who have skills that she lacks, I guess.
Okay, now I need to work on my thesis a little and then maybe search for another job to apply for...
