Rain, delays and general ickiness.
Jul. 28th, 2004 10:31 amI left Decatur House a bit later than usual yesterday, so the Metro was packed. I waited on the Farragut North platform while three trains passed, hoping to get into a less crowded one. When the fourth was just as crowded as the others I gave up and just took it. There was another delay when I went in for my workout (since I didn't do it Monday, I did it yesterday) because I had a cut on my foot and had to put ointment and a bandaid on it. So I didn't get home until almost an hour later than usual.
Last night and this morning there was a lot of rain - particularly this morning, when there was a nasty downpour (oh, the sky looks all blue and pretty and innocent now, but don't let that fool you). Dad watched the local traffic report on the TV. Some roads were closed because of flooding, as well as part of the Red Line (which is the line Dad and I use on the Metro, and probably has the greatest traffic of any of the Metro lines). Luckily all the problems were up near the Glenmont side of the line, so it didn't cause too much trouble for us. But I feel sorry for all those riders who had to contend with half-hour delays and the workers who had to get the floods under control.
Good news, though - I found some patches for Heroes of Might and Magic 4. They're upgrade patches with a few extra features in them. I also figured out how to keep the music from skipping, which is good because the music is pretty but the skipping is annoying. I just wanted to mention that.
