Internship, yay!

After sending in an application and following up with e-mails and calls, I have finally managed to schedule a tour of the museum and an interview for the position - I'm not quite sure whether I'm in the final selection pool or whether it's actually a done deal, because I didn't think it would be polite to ask.
Basically I will be doing reasearch for an exhibit that the Museum will open in the fall. I've always loved studying history and I've recently gotten interested in the 19th century (mostly Victorian stuff, I'll have to look up some earlier sources having to do with American history). This job is right up my alley!
I've also got a backup just in case this doesn't work - although the backup isn't quite a sure thing either. A new Game Stop store recently opened up in the D.C. area. My mother went there to get a PS2 game for Benjamin and somehow got into a conversation with the cashier about my affinity for computer and video games. The guy was impressed because he hasn't encountered many women who are more than casual gamers. He said they still needed some help around the store, and he gave my mother an employee application to send to me. My dad scanned it and sent it to me by e-mail (as a JPEG, though, not a PDF - aaargh!), and I plan to fill it out today. It wouldn't hurt.
My friend Rachel also gave me some valuable suggestions for my Ruse fic, so now I know how to get past my current difficulties with the story, altohugh I'll have to play it carefully. I also found another online friend I hadn't spoken to in a while - alryssa, who I met back in the days when I was first getting into fanfic and active in the ReBoot online fandom. She turned up when I was doing a search for people who were interested in Ruse, so I thought I should renew our accquaintance ("renew our accquaintance?!?" I've been reading too much Victoriana).
