Hmm, okay...

I just watched Donnie Darko: The Director's Cut. It's a very cool, creepy/fascinating/WTF movie, but I think I understood it. I think. So I'm watching it on the commentary track to see if I was right. So far, I think I'm on the money, but it's hard to tell with a movie like this.

If you think you understand Donnie Darko... well, you don't. Because no one understands Donnie Darko. Not even the people making the film.

And now you've just convinced me to re-watch it before my shift ends...

No, I don't believe anyone can really understand Donnie Darko. That's probably the wrong word. What I mean is that I think I was able to follow it the first time around, which apparently isn't that easy.

Ah! That makes more sense. Yeah, it's a difficult movie to follow, and most people need a second viewing to fully appreciate it.

Well since I was watching the director's cut, I think that helped me put it together, because all of the little details are left in. I've also been reading/watching/whatevering science fiction for practically my whole life, so I have more of a basis for understanding it.

Yup, I was also lucky enough to see the Director's Cut, so I was able to "understand" it the first time through.

If you liked the music, I uploaded the soundtrack for you. It's a two-disk set found here and here.
