Uh-oh...

Yesterday I started feeling a dull ache in my right forearm and wrist. I think it's because I don't use the proper "posture" when using the mouse - I should be keeping my wrist straight and in the air, rather than dragging it around on whatever surface I'm rolling the mouse on. I also tend to rest my wrist on the edge of my laptop keyboard when I'm not typing, which probably pinches the nerves.

For the time being, I'm using the mouse with my left hand, as my boss suggested (it's possible to switch around the buttons to make it like a left-handed mouse). I'm also trying not to put my wrist on the keyboard and to use the proper typing posture - that is, keeping my arms and wrists lifted, the way you're supposed to when playing a piano. I'm thinking of getting one of those mousepads with a little wrist cushion, but apparently that doesn't work too well. Maybe I should use Ace bandages or a brace and try to nip this problem in the bud.

I hope it's just some kind of temporary strain and not the beginnings of tendonitis or carpal tunnel syndrome. Since I use computers so much, it's a distinct possibility. I don't want it to get so bad that I can't knit.
