10 Random Things
I apologize, but I got meme-tagged for this. Blame
cinabunny. Anyway, you have to list ten random things about yourself, and at the end tag five people, no tagbacks. Okay, here goes...
1. I have a lazy eye. When I was younger I had to wear a patch on my other eye so I would learn to focus my lazy one, and now it works normally - but I can make it wander at will. It really grosses people out.
2. My blood type is AB-, the rarest variety ever. Whenever I go to donate blood to the Red Cross (and I haven't done that in a while, I should soon), they get really excited.
3. My father's brother's wife's uncle almost got married to Gates McFadden (Doctor Crusher from Star Trek, TNG.)
4. I cannot stand peaches, velvet, suede, corduroy or anything like that. The texture of those things just disturbs me. I don't know why.
5. I once sat at the late Peter Jennings' desk. My grandfather worked at ABC news and took my family on a tour of the studio once. I was four or five, and I remember sitting at Jennings' desk in the studio (he was not there at the time) and drawing pictures on some blank papers laying there.
6. I have never been stung by a bee and I am not, to my knowledge, allergic to anything.
7. My Greek astrological sign is the bull and my Chinese sign is the boar. Both those signs are associated with stubbornness, loyalty, patience, and trustworthiness. I always joke that having both those signs makes me obnoxious.
8. I learned to drive in a Toyota Camry that was nearly as old as I was. I was born in 1983 and the car was made in 1984.
9. I have attended or taken part in religious services in Reconstructionist, Reform, Conservative and (Sephardic) Orthodox synagogues, a cathedral, an Anglican church, and a mosque - that last being here in Philadelphia. I have also been to Quaker meetings, although I went to a Friends school so I'm not sure if that really counts.
10. Speaking of the Friends school, it was a middle school with 5 teachers and 35 students, held in the basement of a Korean Lutheran church. I met
shinyhappygoth there: she was my tour guide when I visited there. For some reason I deliberately annoyed her and, in retaliation, she stole my glasses and hid them in the Spanish room. We have been good friends ever since. Life's funny that way.
